About Us

Founded in 2000 by software developers Robert Smith and Joseph King, Coalesys is a privately held company located in New York.

With years of experience in both client and server development using Windows and Web technologies, we set out to develop traditional Windows client-server applications and a new range of server-based DHTML User Interface products.

Web Technology
The market for server-based DHTML UI products was in its infancy when we began, and our aim was to help bring it out of its shell and to the forefront of modern web development.

In early 2001, PanelBar for ASP was released and was followed a couple of months later by WebMenu for ASP. Both are cutting edge DHTML UI components configured at the server using ASP and a standard COM object model. By the time of our first trade show exhibit (Microsoft Tech-Ed 2001), we were demonstrating these products as well as usable preview versions for Microsoft's next web platform: ASP.NET.

Followed by a productive 6 month public beta period, our ASP.NET controls were ready for release the day of Microsoft's official .NET launch on February 13th, 2002 and became an immediate hit with developers.

This also gave us the distinction of being the only company with a focus on this mode of UI development for both available Microsoft web platforms. However, we didn't stop there, and along the way we released "Studio" versions of our products for use in general client-side web development and in 2003 we expanded our server-side offering to include JavaBean versions for Sun's JSP web platform.

Besides our focus on DHTML UI, we've also combined our experience in client, server and web technologies, and in 2004 we released Internet NewsWire, a set of tools to create a "direct to the desktop" method of distributing news of any kind.

ActiveX Technology
The component market for ActiveX controls was already mature when we began, but we felt there was a niche for light weight, high performance versions of common UI and communication components.

In 2001 we released such a component for interfacing with Winsock that is as easy to use as it is powerful. We followed it up with an even lighter weight component for working solely with the HTTP protocol that was suitable for server-side use under heavy load. We distributed our HTTP Library for free and it has been downloaded and used by countless developers.

Later in 2001 we released SureGrid, a data-bound grid control for any developer needing to view extremely large record sets with a high performance, easy to learn object model.

And On Going ...
Today we are hard at work on the next generation of our products as well as bringing about new ideas and products which will hopefully give you as much satisfaction using them as we have in creating them.
